If you love gadgets and you love cycling, then take a look at Moskito — hailed as the smartwatch for cyclists. This interesting evolution lately that has seen smartwatches function more towards fitness has seen some interesting new designs and ideas.
Kickstarter has become a popular place for smart tech startups to raise the money for increasingly innovative gadgets that those who are sick of the traditional smartwatches are buying in droves.
The early adopter crowd are these company’s main consumers until the devices become commonplace enough to hit the mainstream market. With the recent lack of demand for smartwatches, companies are turning towards different devices and gadgets that serve more than one purpose that appeals to the masses as well as niche groups.
One of the companies that has used Kickstarter to create an innovative smart gadget is called Moskito. Having recently launched on Kickstarter, this company from Berne, Switzerland seeks to create a precision Chronograph that also acts as a smart bike computer in one.
With the look of the prototypes created by Moskito, it looks as if they are seeking to create a beautiful timepiece that offers smart features and a special and unique smart bike computer all in one watch.

This watch is Swiss through and through, and with it are quality materials and a very unique and innovative dial face.
From the outside, the Moskito Classic looks like an interesting but traditional Analog timepiece. There is a subdial at the 3, 6, and 9 o’clock positions as well as what looks to be an hour, minute, and second hand.
One subdial is actually a multi-functional subdial. The subdial hand between the Arabic numerals of 10 and 20, will indicate whether the MAIN yellow “second” hand with the red tip is being used as a Speedometer, for the time, or for the Chronograph feature. In the photo, you can see that the subdial is indicating that it is being used as a Speedometer, which, when you attach this smart gadget to your bike, can show you your speed via the yellow hand.
The opposite subdial is actually a smart subdial. This subdial hand will indicate on the correct point — for example, this subdial has applied lettering around its half-moon design of: Call, Mail, +, =, -, SMS, App. This means that the hand will indicate when you have received a text message, a phone call, an email, from your app, and music volume.
In addition to the Chronograph feature, the Moskito is also an analogue tachometer that will tell you your current speed through the Speedometer, the distance you have traveled, and your average speed. You can engage in competition mode and test yourself on your cycle and set personal bests.
This watch is also Strava and Garmin compatible.
All of these customizations and notification settings that make the Moskito smart are done through the Moskito App, which connects to your watch and makes it possible through Bluetooth, to notify you and use these smart cycling features.
This app is easily downloaded and is compatible with both iOS and Android.
Switzerland is known as the home of the best watchmakers in the world, and so when it comes to this combination of smart technology and traditional timepiece, this innovative gadget comes from the right place. You can be assured that the quality will be up to snuff.
For example, the Swiss company Soprod, is known for their innovative products and precision in the manufacturing of watch movements. The Moskito is expected to be able to handle high impacts and with the partnership with a great watch movement manufacturer, Moskito only has to ensure that the design is flawless and fully functional.
Knowing that this smart tech timepiece is handmade by the company in South Switzerland and is unlike anything else on the market makes us excited to try this one out.
